About the Journal

The Journal of Genocide & Liberation War Research is an international English-language journal focused on Bangladesh Liberation War research. It is a refereed, double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing research articles on this topic. It encourages interpretive criticism and insightful analysis of the issues of genocide and atrocities committed by the Pakistan Army against the innocent people of East Bengal in 1971. The journal aims to develop awareness of the authentic history of the Bangladesh Liberation War and to dispel myths and fabricated stories spread by pro-Pakistani and anti-liberation forces. Our scope extends beyond the genocides, Liberation War, and struggle for self-determination in Bangladesh to include genocides, ethnic cleansing, struggles for self-determination and independence, state repression, political violence, wars, human rights violations, displacement, resistance movements, and comparative and transnational analyses of these issues across different countries and regions of the world. At the same time, we are interested in publishing introductions, reviews, and critical discussions of significant national and international research, books, and scholarly publications on genocide and related subjects. We have a firm conviction in the Open Access philosophy and strongly support Open Access Initiatives. This journal provides open access to all its content to support greater global exchange of knowledge. We believe this free-access policy will benefit both the writer and the reader. By ‘open access’ to this literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution is that users may remix, transform, and build on the content for non-commercial purposes only, and authors should be properly acknowledged and cited.

The Journal has long had an editorial board consisting of eminent scholars in the respective fields from Bangladesh and abroad. The journal has official registration at both the publication-wide level with an ISSN and the individual article level with a DOI.

The opinions expressed in the articles and other content appearing in the journal are solely those of the respective authors and in no way reflect the opinions of the editors. Authors submitting their work for publication in the Journal of Genocide & Liberation War Research are responsible for obtaining approval for any copyrighted material they use in their articles.

Peer Review Process

We follow a strict double-blind review process for submitted works, we always conceal the identities of both the reviewers and the author from each other. If any submitted article fails to meet the primary standards, it will be rejected, and the author will be notified of the decision promptly. The editors may advise the author to revise the article for publication.

Submission Guidelines

We accept original research articles as electronic submissions via e-mail as attached documents (Microsoft Word only). All manuscripts must be in Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing, and submitted only as MS Word 2007/2010. All manuscripts should strictly follow MLA 9th Edition citation style.

In particular, the examples will be formatted as follows:

Book:

Book by Two Authors:
Author’s Last Name and Author’s Last Name. Title of the Book. Publisher, Year.

Journal Article:

The documents must include name and affiliation details in the body of your submission. The submission must be in a single attachment. The subject line must be Submission Article. The submission e-mail must include a statement confirming that you have read the submission guidelines, that you agree to the journal’s policy, and that the submission is original and does not contain plagiarized material.

Format of the Research Papers:

Authors are requested to strictly follow the MLA 9th Edition style while preparing the articles. Authors are also requested to include the following in the format of their articles:

Full title with subtitle, if any. Times New Roman font, size 14, bold (not all capital letters)
Name and affiliation of the author/s.
An abstract of the article of about 150-250 words along with 4-5 Keywords.
Authors should note that the main body of the text should be prepared in such a way that no formatting is needed afterwards. Headings, subheadings, and illustrations should be well incorporated within the main body of the article. Times New Roman font, size 12, and justified.
The word limit for the research paper is up to 4500-6000 words inclusive of Abstract and Works Cited.
All portions of the articles should be single-spaced.
The author should be careful regarding grammatical and typographical errors.
All essays submitted must be in English for review.
The plagiarism report of the Research paper must be duly checked in plagiarism software like Urkund, PlagScan, Viper, Turnitin, etc.

Note: Do not decorate your submission with lines, borders, special characters, etc., which may lead to rejection.

Copyright:

The copyright of the article is transferred to the Journal of Genocide & Liberation War Research if and when the article is accepted for publication. The author hereby represents and warrants that the paper is original and that the author is the author of the paper, except for material that is clearly identified as to its source, with permission notices from the copyright owners where required.

The author declares that:

This paper has not been published in the same form elsewhere.
It will not be submitted anywhere else for publication prior to acceptance/rejection by the Journal of Genocide & Liberation War Research.
The corresponding author signs for and accepts responsibility for releasing this material on behalf of any co-authors.
Journal of Genocide & Liberation War Research is entitled to publish submitted work in any form (online or in print). The editor can also reproduce the submission in any form (book/ anthology), and authors will be informed about the publication in other forms.
